Speakers

Bronwyn Short was born in New South Wales, Australia. After earning both a BA and a DipEd, she taught at both elementary and high schools and then completed a year at Moore College in the Bible and Missions Program. Bron and David, her husband, moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1991 where David is the Rector of St. John’s Vancouver Anglican Church. She is mum to two adult sons, Josh and Ben, the latter who recently married Kelsey.
Since her first years as a Christian, Bronwyn has had extensive experience in teaching the bible in small and larger group settings to women and children. Since 2000 Bronwyn has focused on writing bible studies and training women to teach God’s word.
Bron likes reading, swimming, birdwatching and dabbling in water colour.

Jan Hobbis Jan joined the staff of St. John’s Vancouver Anglican church in 2000 and currently holds the position of Director of Women’s Ministry. She has a love for leading Bible studies and is committed to training women to teach the Bible. She is a mother and a grandmother, and her grandchildren are the joy of her life. She enjoys a good round of Dutch Blitz, dark chocolate, and red wine…but maybe not all at the same time.

Irena Tippett is a good example of someone found by the Lord Jesus when she least expected (or desired) it. Becoming a Christian in France while pursuing a degree in Fine Arts, she loves to use her training to speak and write on art and culture in the context of her faith. In recent years her greatest adventure and joy have been to teach the Bible and study God’s Word with other women. Her experience in Women’s ministry includes leadership at Women@10, a large Bible study at St. John’s Vancouver Anglican Church and with the LiveWord Conference, a teaching ministry to women of the Vancouver Lower Mainland.

Saartjie Anderson grew up in Pietersburg, after which she studied medicine at the University of Pretoria. In 2002 she left her medical practice to be at home for her husband and kids. Shortly thereafter she took up the task of homeschooling her children and enjoyed this privilege for 10 years. During this time, she could live out her passion for teaching through her involvement at the Tshwane Home Educators Academy's Life Orientation program. Here she led discussion groups for teenagers.
Saartjie has been one of the leaders at the Antipas Women's Bible study since 2014 and for the last 5 years she has been a Sunday School teacher at Antipas.
She loves nature and enjoys hiking and camping with her best friend and husband, Human.

Doreen Nortier heads up the Women's Ministry at Antipas Baptist Church. She was born and bred in Pretoria, and qualified at Tukkies as Occupational Therapist.
She is married to the love of her life, and is a full time mom to four wonderful kids. During 2008 she moved with her family to Vancouver. During the three years they stayed there, she was involved with the Women's Bible study at St John's Vancouver.
Upon their return to Pretoria, she started a Bible study for women at Antipas. She is excited to see women grow spiritually as they read and study the Bible. She loves books and enjoys Pilates classes, while sewing and knitting takes up her spare time.
